In my research topic, I identify the tourist gaze and representation as two relevant concepts for study. Thanks for Frankie to give me one article: The tourist gaze written by John Urry. This article point out the characteristics of the tourist gaze. Places are chosen to be gazed upon because there is an anticipation, especially through daydreaming and fantasy. Tourist gaze is usually oriented life experience less natural scenery or characteristics of the urban landscape. The reason why some people enjoy these features, because they are considered different in some respects. The gaze is constructed through signs, and tourism involves the collection of sign.

Dear Jazz, The blog shows that you have a sense to apply theoretical concept in your analysis of collected data. That's nice. Please check the idea of "tourist gaze" again and find out more "characteristics" of the gaze. The discussion can then be elaborated. In fact, the gaze of an American tourist and Thai can be different.
