What is the refined research question that you are setting out to answer? (Please be specific in your research topic)
Why Hong Kong teenagers like to consume on Korean pop music instead of local pop music?
|
For my research topic "Why Hong Kong teenagers like to consume on Korean pop music instead of local pop music?", I will be focus on Hong Kong teenagers consume on Korean pop music versus local pop music and I will find out the reason why Korean pop music will be so worship by Hong Kong teenagers.
So here some questions which I will use it to help me to run my research project.
1. To what extent Hong Kong teenagers consume on Korean pop music?
2. To what extent Hong Kong teenagers consume on local pop music?
3. How Korean pop music affect Hong Kong teenagers life?
4. How can the underground singer develop in both place?
How does this develop themes and debates explored within the lectures of this module? (Please put down the revised short introduction to your project based on the one in blog 2. Remember that the introduction should include the purpose of your research project, significance and key concept(s) that may be useful for your analysis.)
In my research project, I can see that how do Korean pop music let the Korean culture sink into Hong Kong and let the Hong Kong teenagers get interested in it. Also, I will find out how Korean culture affect Hong Kong teenagers life, like their language use in daily life.
In these few years, K-pop music stormed the world. There are some songs that people must know in the world, like Gangnam style. Every teenagers know how to sing it and they get hype when they hear this song. Why do K-pop so attract that teenagers will addicted in it? How do they know there are new songs coming out? Besides, Hong Kong local pop music become weaken year by year. In the past years, Hong Kong pop music are famous all over the world, like Cheung Kwok Wing. Other country or city sing Hong Kong local pop music always, why there have a big change between it? |
What critical methodologies are you going to use? How are you going to produce the evidence you’ll need to answer your research question?
1. Do research on the situation that Hong Kong teenagers go to be a Korean pop star.
|
2. Questionnaire of 50 Hong Kong teenagers that their views on K-pop and local pop music.
|
3. In-depth interviews with 5 Hong Kong teenagers.
|
Now you should have some references in mind. If so, please put down a short reference list at the end of this blog so that you have a better plan of what articles that you are go to read for the project.

Dear Harry, It would not be easy to establish a causal relationship between media violence and people's behaviour. Try to do the research by interviewing some people first. For the questionnaires, you need to show clearly how questions can be related to one another for testing the relationship. Try to seek for some journal articles online for ideas. For the qualitative part, please refer to "encoding/decoding" model for your theoretical framework. It was covered in Media Culture 1.
