Research question:
In what ways is Hong Kong constructed as tourist destination in Hong Kong Tourism Board?
Hong Kong, a former British territory, is one of the most densely populated places in China and in the world. You’ll find quiet neighborhoods full of temples and a dazzling skyline loaded with shopping and dining opportunities.
According to the orientalism, Hong Kong is the embodiment of yin and yang, the Chinese concept of balance. It is filled with neighborhoods that resonate with Chinese and colonial tradition, while it is soaring skylines look boldly towards the future. Faith is an integral part of local life. The Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple is one of the top 10 attractions in Hong Kong.
As the tourists gaze, they prefer visit the more local cultural or the real Hong Kong instead of only visit the attractions. For example, Temple Street Night Market. There are opera singers, fortune, trinkets, tea ware, electronics, watches, menswear, jade and antiques inside.
In Hong Kong Tourism Board website, there have the clear column list out that what you want to do in Hong Kong. It is satisfy different tourists visit Hong Kong. Then you rolling down the website, there are two main theme show on screen: one is Best of Hong Kong, other on is Explore. Top 10 attractions, upcoming event and must eat in the Best of Hong Kong catalog. It is have much orientalism such as Temple Street Night Market, Dim Sum and Chinese Barbecue. Moreover, orientalism visual images we can looking on the website, the Hong Kong Tourism Board logo is the significant . The audience aware of Hong Kong easily. Even though they know the history of Hong Kong or not.
On the other hand, Hong Kong Tourism Board provide some books and periodicals to let the tourists have guideline to visit Hong Kong. The above is one of Hong Kong Tourism Board periodicals. You can have the impression of Hong Kong on the cover painting. The painting have orientalism element, the Big Buddha, Bruce Lee and Dragon. There are also culture, festival and building images in this painting. Lastly, the painting composition is closely, it is reflecting characteristics of Hong Kong.
Here is another periodicals call HK 360, the contents are listed out the different sides of Hong Kong. The tourists can do everything in Hong Kong. The language are facilitate tourists from different country of reading. The colour also relate on Hong Kong , it is not about one colour to identity of Hong Kong. Hong Kong is colorful and can satisfy different tourists.

Dear Jazz, I am glad that you identified Orientalism and the tourist gaze as two relevant concepts for your study. Please try to read some articles about these two terms. They are not well elaborated in the blog despite your observations are correct.
